We took the girls to the beach for the first time 4th of July week. We went to Emrald Isle NC with three of Joe's college roommates and their families. It was a fun and tiring week full of beach and children. There were 9 children under 5 years old, but the house was nice and big and spacious and it worked out really well. The girls loved the ocean, Annie ran headlong into it the second she saw it screaming "I'm on top of the world!" and never left all week long, Mia was more timid and took a bit to warm up, she liked playing in the waves but she was a bit more reserved with her feelings. Carly Jayne would crawl right out into the water if we weren't there to stop her.
We ate fresh fish, watched fireworks from the pier, lounged on the beach with the ladies during naptime, dug in the sand for mole crabs which the kids called "little guys" and enjoyed spending time with good friends.
Playing in the Waves
It rained the first few days so we set up this pool under the deck outside the basement garage and the kids were able to get some energy out for the day.
The girls sharing lollipops with their baby sister
Daddy spent most of the week in the waves with the girls
I saw this idea on Pinterest to dig a hole and put a tarp down to fill it with water for a baby pool. It worked really well if I needed her to be in the shade but mostly I would just dig her a hole down by the water and she would play in it.
Daddys being amazing
The men went out to dinner and a movie one night and the ladies took the kids to the beach to fly kites
The boys all pitching in making dessert
Too cool
Blowing bubbles with Cooper
Carly loving the water
Mia loving the water
Annie loving the water
The 13 hour trip was looong but the girls did well. It was mostly just annoying to be in such a small space with them for an entire day ;o)
