1 Thessalonians 4
11 and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
I don't know about the daily life winning the respect of anyone but otherwise I feel this verse with all my heart and soul these days. It resonated with me when I read it and it has not left me. I feel like I am walking the road that I am supposed to be walking, I go to work, I stay home, I plan Children's Ministry stuff and I talk to God. A lot. I feel Him as my friend, my comfort and my refuge daily. I feel like He is mine and I am His and it feels quiet and simple and right.
With that said I also feel slightly crazy and rightly so. The other day I had an informal meeting at work with our administrative assistant and I brought the girls. It took me 25 minutes to leave the house! Twenty FIVE! From calling the girls to put their coats on and leaving the driveway 25 minutes of my life happened. No wonder I now understand the phrase "there aren't enough hours in the day" a quarter of one is spent getting into the car. For The Love! I will admit to you that once the girls were finally loaded in the car and I came inside to grab the diaper bag and my Children's Ministry folder I grabbed a PEZ dispenser instead of my water bottle on accident and when I realized it I threw the thing across the room and exclaimed a loud word of frustration.
However in the midst of all that I wasn't late, wasn't moody, wasn't rushed. The girls did great during the meeting they played with their toys and kept Megan and I laughing the whole time. I got work done and they were part of it.
Yesterday I had a whole list of stuff I wanted to accomplish. By nap time I was throwing them into bed with a good riddance attitude that was SO not their fault. I was trying to feed Carly and its really super hard to potty train and have a nursling. Mia wont go on the little potty and cant get up onto the toilet herself. Now I know a sane mother would have purchased a $10 step stool by now, but not me. I figured she can't potty without me yet so why do I need a stool when I have to be there to put her on the toilet anyway? So I told her to please just go use the little potty while I fed Carly and what ended up was Annie trying to help, picked up the potty and tried to dump it into the toilet, dumping it all over the floor and herself and the whole scene ended up with a bath, at nap time. Oh I yelled and mostly it was my fault for not putting Carly down and helping her myself and I was mad because I hate our little cheap potty and my laziness for not buying a step stool. So needless to say I ended up asking them both for forgiveness and they napped wonderfully and I resolved at the end of the day to stop treating them like people who are getting in the way of my To Do list. They ARE my to do list and every thing else should come as a second. A runner up.
I hate potty training
Carly can army crawl as of today. Mom and I found pictures of me as a baby and Carly and I are Twins!! Only I had 10lbs on the fat cheeked little girl. I skipped her 6mo check up because the flu, both stomach and respiratory have been going around like CRAZY and so far our family has stayed fairly healthy. I just didn't think it was necessary to subject her to all those germs. I will have to take her in soon, its just that the diseases are still rampant and I am enjoying laying low. She is SUCH a good baby, even tempered, cuddly, sleeps well, smiles easy and plays by herself so contently.
Annie is too big for her britches. She is such a helper and does well at the little tasks I give her to do. We are still working on the same 3 letters of the alphabet that we've been working on for months. I guess I just need to add another letter but in my head it doesn't make sense to add another letter until she knows the ones we have already introduced. She just can't seem to remember them yet and I think after 3 months she is just now finally hearing the sound at the beginning of the words. Annie has such a girly fragile spirit. I have a hard time with understanding her and I am trying to learn how to deal with her emotions. I want her to be able to control them without squelching them. I am not a very emotional person so I tend to just tell her to stop the silliness and get it together and then I kind of feel like a big meanie.
Mia says things like "actually" and asks for forgiveness no matter who the person at fault is. She knows crazy things like what a Hexagon is and loves, loves, loves, to make people laugh. I am worried about the crazy little thing. I can just see her in school totally ignoring the teachers plea for order and doing a silly dance, sound, faces, or jokes thriving on the laughter she receives. I have a feeling I am in for trouble with that Crazy Woman and I love her so much. She is wild and careless and scrappy and so. much. fun. I just know she is going to be that girl who is every ones friend. It is my prayer that she is a true friend and not just the party girl that everyone likes to hang out with because shes fun :o)
And because I just can't seem to get it together in the picture department since Carly was born. Here is a priceless one I fished off my camera that is Too Cute for Words!
